Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch

Good Omens: The Nice & Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch - Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman The end days are upon us. As certain Hollywood blockbusters would lead us to believe, the newborn Antichrist is meant to be raised by a respectable, upper-class American family, receive a proper demonic education from his equally demonic nanny and after several years bring about the Apocalypse. Well… that's theory. In fact a tiny "misunderstanding" involving baby swapping took place in a quaint British hospital where American ambassador's wife was giving birth to her first son, as a result of which the forces of both Heaven and Hell are left oblivious to the fact that the Son of Satan is actually walking Earth in a quiet English village of Lower Tadfield… There are some persons, however, that are not looking forward to End of the World with equal enthusiasm. Crowley, Hell's primary agent on Earth and his heavenly counterpart angel Aziraphale have to admit that they've been rather enjoying their long life of meddling in human affairs and the idea of returning to their respective bosses after thousands of years on Earth is somewhat unwelcome. Unlikely alliances have to be forged as the two work against time to stop the inevitable. The Good Omens, co-written by two prominent British authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (and combining best traits of both), is a hilarious parody of popular movies and books of the genre. If you enjoyed the twisted, wry humor of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy this is definitely the book for you, but I guarantee that it's going to be a great read for anyone who simply enjoys laughing at our sometimes wicked human nature. I couldn't put it down!
